Olivia Winslow has been a Newsday journalist for three decades and currently covers demographics, analyzing data to explore Long Island’s population changes, as well as an assortment of issues as a general assignment reporter. She was also part of the investigative reporting team that uncovered discriminatory housing practices in Long Island’s real estate industry, producing the award-winning Long Island Divided series in 2019, a three-year reporting project. The series has received several prestigious awards, among them: The George Polk Award in 2020; A Peabody Award in 2019; two New York Emmy Awards 2019-2020 for documentary and interactive stories; the 2020 Deadline Club Award; the 2020 News Leaders Association award for innovative story telling. She joined Newsday in 1993 after working as a reporter at the Richmond Times-Dispatch in Virginia and the Danbury News-Times in Connecticut. She has a bachelor’s degree in print journalism from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a master’s in journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.
