Modern-day redlining is no secret. Most of the indicators of redlining are publicly available: Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data, branch locations, and service area. With planning and persistence, any fair housing advocate can obtain these data. The risk analysis, however, can take some skill and may leave advocates unsure of how to proceed. This session aims to build on information presented in NFHA’s Redlining Toolkit by providing guidance and ideas for investigations and effective advocacy. Participants will hear from a panel of experts who have successfully addressed redlining, and then reinforce their knowledge through a case study. It is recommended that participants review NFHA’s Redlining Toolkit, located at https://nationalfairhousing.org/issue/redlining/ prior to the session.
