Michael Neal is a Senior Fellow in in the Housing Finance Policy Center at the Urban Institute. Through a grant, Michael also contributes as a Research Fellow for the JP Morgan Chase Institute.
Mr. Neal’s body of work has intersected racial equity, technology and homeownership. Recent research has focused on implications of artificial intelligence for close racial homeownership gaps. Previous research has used machine learning to explore the racially disproportionate impact of automated valuation models for Black neighborhoods. He has also published on the technological gap faced by Black credit unions.
Mr. Neal has a bachelor's degree in economics from Morehouse College and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Pennsylvania. He has also studied finance at Princeton University and economics at the University of Oxford.
