Speaker Bio
Yiyang Wu is a partner at Relman Colfax PLLC, a plaintiffs' side civil rights law firm located in Washington, DC. Yiyang’s litigation practice covers a wide variety of civil rights issues, including housing discrimination, lending discrimination, consumer protection, and police accountability. Yiyang was co-lead counsel on Gilead Community Services v. Town of Cromwell, a zoning discrimination case against a Connecticut municipality in which jury found in favor of the plaintiffs and returned a verdict of nearly $5.2 million in compensatory and punitive damages. Yiyang also represented twenty-one fair housing organizations in a landmark $53 million settlement against Fannie Mae, exposing how the mortgage giant let homes in communities of color decay while maintaining properties in white neighborhoods. Before joining Relman, Yiyang clerked for the Honorable Andre M. Davis of the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and for the Honorable Mary A. McLaughlin of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Yiyang is an adjunct professor at Howard University School of Law and is active with the Asian Pacific American Bar Association Educational Fund.
