Jim McCarthy has served as President/CEO of the Miami Valley Fair Housing Center (MVFHC) in Dayton, OH, for 28+ years. He is the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Fair Housing Alliance, a role he held for 9 years. McCarthy leads Miami Valley Fair Housing as it pursues innovative and important fair housing cases, both administratively and in court. Mr. McCarthy has participated in White House forums on housing issues in the United States and has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. In 2012, McCarthy was appointed to the inaugural 25-member U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Consumer Advisory Board (CAB), a position he held through 2016. Miami Valley Fair Housing Center is a proud Operating Member of the National Fair Housing Alliance and stands in solidarity with NFHA on its public policy and legislative priorities. McCarthy is also a professional subject-matter expert, a person with lived experience, and a consultant to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). He conducts diagnostic and comprehensive site visits and provides technical assistance to Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program recipients across the United States and its territories. Jim lives near downtown Dayton, Ohio. He is the proud uncle of 21 nieces and nephews, now young adults who are doing great things to improve their communities and the world.
