Sonya Acosta is a senior policy analyst at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a nonpartisan research and policy institute that advances federal and state policies to help ensure everyone has the resources they need to thrive. Her work focuses on policies that help all people with low incomes afford housing, including improving and expanding federal rental assistance programs. Prior to joining CBPP, Sonya worked at the National Low Income Housing Coalition and several fair housing organizations in the Chicago area. Sonya holds a B.A in History and International Studies from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
