Concurrent Workshop 2A – Examining the Language of Advertisements to Determine if there are Fair Housing Violations
Date & Time
Monday, June 29, 2026, 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM
Location Name
South American A/B
Description

This interactive session will help participants identify when housing advertisements and property descriptions may cross the line from persuasive marketing into unlawful discrimination. The session will open with a practical overview of advertising language that may indicate a preference, limitation, or exclusion under the Fair Housing Act, including common phrases, coded language, and seemingly neutral wording that can raise fair housing concerns. Participants will then apply those principles in a hands-on review of AI-generated housing descriptions, evaluating whether the language complies with fair housing laws and discussing how organizations can use AI tools responsibly while protecting consumers’ rights.
