Chavarria, an Illinois native, has dedicated the last 10 years of his career to fighting for fair housing around the state, having worked at several Illinois based fair housing organizations before joining HOPE Fair Housing Center as its current Executive Director. Chavarria possesses expertise in fair housing enforcement and investigative methods, fair housing policy, and has a background in coalition building to advance fair housing initiatives at the local, state, and federal level. Chavarria grew up in Matteson, IL as it was being transformed by some of the nation's fastest documented white flight and has since dedicated his career to advancing fair housing and working alongside those most impacted by housing discrimination and community disinvestment.
