Casey Weissman-Vermeulen has worked in fair housing enforcement throughout his legal career. Since joining CNY Fair Housing as a staff attorney in 2019, he has litigated a variety of fair housing cases in federal and state court and before HUD and the New York State Division of Human Rights. Previously, he was a trial attorney in the Fair Housing Enforcement Division of the Office of General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, DC. At HUD, Casey worked on an array of fair housing investigations and enforcement actions, assisted in drafting fair housing regulations and guidance, and contributed to government briefs in cases raising important questions of statutory interpretation under the Fair Housing Act. Casey received his law degree and a master's degree in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his bachelor's degree from Cornell University. Casey is barred in New York. He is a Syracuse native, where he lives with his wife and two children.
