Raghu has over twenty years of consumer banking and financial regulatory experience in both the public and private sectors. He is a member of EY’s Global and Americas Regulatory Networks and of the Americas Financial Services Consumer Compliance team. He supports clients on consumer regulatory and risk assessment matters in areas such as bank and nonbank supervision, consumer protection, consumer banking transformation and financial inclusion.
Prior to joining EY in the FSO Risk Management Consulting practice, he served as the Acting Director of the Division of Banking for the State of New Jersey. In this role, he served as the lead financial regulator in the state overseeing all state-chartered banks and credit unions as well as over 3000 consumer finance and fintech companies. He was appointed as the first Student Loan Ombudsman for the State of New Jersey and led the implementation of the state’s Student Loan Servicing Act. He also served as a steering committee member of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors Nonbank Oversight Committee and worked closely with federal regulators such as the CFPB, OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve and the US Treasury.
Prior to his time in public service, he spent over 16 years at Wells Fargo Bank in a variety of leadership and executive management roles including as Head of Wells Fargo’s Consumer Financial Reform group where he built and managed the bank’s financial regulatory function responsible for the Dodd-Frank Act and as Head of Public Policy for Wells Fargo’s Home and Consumer Lending Divisions where he worked closely with industry leadership and federal policymakers on issues such as mortgage market reform, affordable housing, consumer lending and consumer protection.
Prior to Wells Fargo, he worked as a senior consultant for KPMG as part of their Silicon Valley high tech practice.
He has a Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School and a Masters in Computer Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University. He also has an MBA in Economics and a BS in Finance/Computer Science from the University of Scranton.
