Dr. King placed his body on the line for open housing by bringing the fight for civil rights from the south to northern
cities like Chicago. This session will highlight Dr. King’s legacy as a faith leader in the fight for fair housing and centers the discussion on the moral urgency to fully enforce the Fair Housing Act and create safe, decent, affordable housing and equitable opportunities. What strategies can fair housing advocates learn from organizations led by faith leaders, non-profit public charities, and community-centered individuals inspired by Dr. King’s work to ensure our neighbors have access to thriving communities that are places of opportunity? This diverse panel will speak to the moral imperative to fight for housing as the engine to achieve equity for everyone.
